Liberty, The Blue Devils and an International Spectacular!

Liberty’s 2015 season began at the International Summer Spectacular show in Woking….and what a day it was!
After a long coach journey and seemingly endless delays on the M25, Liberty arrived at Kingfield Stadium and jumped straight into the clinics being run by Blue Devils International. Every single member of the corps took part in the clinics and every single member was buzzing about it afterwards. The chance to play alongside and learn from such talented young adults was an inspirational experience for our members. Watching BDI then perform was memorising.
Liberty performed much later in the programme than we are used to, and as a result it was great to be in front of such a big crowd. The weeks leading up to the competition seemed to have been peppered with more school trips and end-of-term concerts than we had seen before, and it had been a real challenge to get the show onto the field…but it got there and just about hung together!
Liberty took 12th place and were especially pleased to see the colourguard and percussion sections out-performing the overall scores with placings of 7th and 9th respectively. We’re on the field and ready to move the show forward.
Our “Blue Devils Day” saw 13 young Liberty members have their very first experience of a drum corps show, and they absolutely loved it. We arrived back at Northampton to pizza and a sleep-over at our rehearsal venue which then set up an early morning rehearsal session…..and Blue Devils warm-ups were to be seen everywhere!
