Liberty travelled to Basildon in Essex to compete in the very first WGI Winds Competition to be held in the UK. The judges had been flown in from America and we hoped they would like our 2019 show "The American Dream." Since the competing in Nottingham we had added in the choreography and movement for the second part of the show and would be performing that for the first time.
The day was a full one with a prelims competition followed by an evening Finals event.....and in between the whole corps descended on the local Nandos to get fuelled up.
Both performances were at the absolute top end of where we would want to be at this stage of the year....for groups on the indoor circuit, this would be their season-end finals, whereas our season is only just starting and will finish in October.
With 7 of our young members having experienced their first competition a fortnight ago in Nottingham, it was great to see another new member giving his first performance today. Congratulations to Cameron on a great first performance on tuned percussion.
We were thrilled to finish the day as Youth Champions and delighted to have been part of such a well run, friendly and diverse event competing alongside bands from not only across the UK but also a fabulous group from Indonesia too!
Our next competition will our first outdoor show of the season at our home show - BYBA Summer Rhythm in Corby on Sunday June 23rd.
