Alongside our senior band we also run a junior band for 9-12 year olds…school years 5 to 7.
The members of the junior band are taught by the older members of the senior band and so 2 sets of young people get to develop their skills.
No experience is necessary at all to join the junior band. In fact most of the players join us having not played an instrument before.
This year the junior band are putting together a Western themed show and they previewed the first 2 numbers at the Summer Rhythm contest. their performance began with ‘John Dunbar’s theme’ from Dances with Wolves and they then upped the tempo and gave a great rendition of ‘Don’t Fence Me In’. With a percussion feature to add along with them theme from the Magnificent Seven, it should be a fun Summer for Liberty’s Juniors.
