2 of Liberty’s members have recently returned from their Summer adventure, experiencing drum corps in the USA….and like all great adventures there were some unexpected twists and turns to cope with!
Orin Willis and Simi Gill both travelled to South Carolina in June to join the pre-season Spring training camp of Coastal Surge Drum and Bugle Corps. During the next 4 weeks, hours were spent day and night learning the show that they would take on tour across the USA.

When word got out, the USA Drum Corps community swung into action to make sure that their Summer would not end in such a disappointing way….and offers of places came in from corps all across North America and Canada.
With friends in Atlanta who could help with transport, our 2 travellers opted to take alternate positions at World Class Corps, Spirit of Atlanta who treated them like one of their family from the moment they arrived.
The anguish and disappointment of their original corps folding was replaced by an experience they would never of dreamt of having as they became members of a World Class Drum Corps International Corps.
Orin and Simi are now preparing to go to university and are hoping to return to Spirit of Atlanta in 2016. In the meantime they have re-joined Liberty’s 2015 show for the September contests and are bringing their experiences back to their home corps to help Liberty develop even further.
