Taking part in the Northampton Eisteddfod - a local performing arts festival - has become an established part of Liberty's preparations for a new season.

With the focus entirely on music, it gives the members an opportunity to present the first half of the new show to an audience and adjudicator that does not normally see Liberty's programmes. Coming before the contest season starts, the Northampton Eisteddfod gives the group a key target to work towards and helps enormously as they begin the journey towards the Autumn's National Championships. Liberty were awarded an 'Outstanding' grade by the adjudicator, who commented on the musicality of the performance and was impressed by the member's understanding of sectional dynamics that allowed the melody line to always come through.

Alongside the full ensemble, some of Liberty's young brass players gave solo performances and then joined together for a brass quartet performance. It was a really great opportunity for those members to develop their performance skills too.

And so once again, Liberty had a really great Eisteddfod experience that showcased the group to a wider audience. Liberty made sure that as everyone left the day, they were all given a Liberty newsletter so they could see just what is available in the our programme.
