For the past three years, Liberty have hosted Summer Rhythm; a marching arts show in Northamptonshire. This year, over 15 bands turned up to perform at a packed-out stadium at Corby Town Football Club.

There were two main competitions taking place at Summer Rhythm; one hosted by British Youth Band Association and the other hosted by Traditional Youth Marching Bands Association. There was also a demonstration of a new street style marching class, led by Hertfordshire Show Band. This meant that all kinds of bands, from Scout bands to drum corps, were represented at this show.

For Liberty, this competition was a checkpoint for the first half of the season. Having already competed once this season, this performance was a chance for Liberty to show the judges and audience their new music and the changes made from the last show. Being the only band to perform in BYBA Premier Youth Class, the top class, Liberty picked up all captions and placed first.

Before leaving the show, the majority of bands gathered in the car park to take part in an activity unique to this show; the Summer Rhythm Jam. Every band got to show off their best music and have fun whilst doing it. It was a great way to end an already wonderful day for the marching arts.

Liberty are hugely grateful for the continuing support of Peter Phipps and his team at Phipps Henson McAllister accountants, who sponsored our rehearsals leading up to Summer Rhythm. Anyone in the Midlands looking for a great firm of accountants who give back to their community should contact Peter at https://www.phm-accountants.co.uk/.
